Flint Hills 50 and Marathon : April 11, 2026
The Flint Hills 50 and Marathon takes place near Manhattan, Kansas, at the Green Valley Community Center and surrounding dirt roads in the Flint Hills. The event is described as the area's first ultramarathon and first trail marathon and uses mostly dirt roads through scenic hills. The course features substantial elevation change and multiple on-course aid stations.
Distances offered:
- 50 Miler: two 25 mile loops, five aid stations per loop
- Marathon: single 26.2 mile loop that begins with a 1.2 mile loop, four aid stations
The course layout results in over 2000 feet of elevation change per loop. Cut-off times are listed for each race: a 14 hour limit for the 50 miler and a 13.5 hour limit for the marathon. A race map is provided for the looped course.
Packet pickup is available the day before at Manhattan Running Company and race day pickup at the Start/Finish at Green Valley Community Center. Food and non-alcoholic drinks are provided after the race. Event proceeds support local schools.
Awards include a race-specific finishers belt buckle for every finisher. Winners receive painted rocks collected from the course, and participants who complete the event five times receive a painted rock that lists all completed years.
