About the race
Flatwoods 5K is a chip-timed 3.1 Miles road race held on October 31, 2026, at Austin Cary Forest, 10625 NE Waldo Rd, Gainesville, FL 32609. The course follows a scenic limerock loop road around the forest and includes mile markers; it is accurately measured but not USATF certified.
There is a water station at the halfway point and post-race refreshments. Strollers are welcome, but the road surface is unpaved. Parking and the starting area are located approximately 2 miles from the main gate on Waldo Rd.
Registration is open from April 10, 2026 to October 28, 2026. The entry fee is $20, and runners 12 years and under race for free. A race t-shirt is available for an additional $15; t-shirt orders stop on October 18.
Early packet pickup is scheduled for Thursday, October 30, from 4:30 to 7:00 PM at First Magnitude Brewing Company, 1220 SE Veitch St, Gainesville, FL 32601. Race day packet pickup is available at the Austin Cary Forest from 7:00 AM to 8:15 AM.
Pine cone trophies made from native longleaf, loblolly and slash pine cones are awarded to top open and masters finishers, and to the top three in each five-year age and gender group. All runners 14 years or younger receive an award. Race timing is provided by Start2Finish Race Management. Proceeds support forestry education and outreach.
