Fit Forward 5K Run/Walk - Des Plaines
The event is a point to point 5K run/walk that starts at Beck Lake in Des Plaines and finishes at Allison Woods in Northbrook. Shuttle service is arranged from the finish line to the parking area near the start. The event is presented by a group of community organizations, including the Indian Social Workers Association of Illinois.
There are multiple participation categories with different features. Competitive and Encouraging Beginner categories are timed and include an event T-shirt; the Competitive category is eligible for overall cash prizes and trophies. The Fun Runner/Walker category is noncompetitive and may follow a shorter course option.

Awards include a $500 cash prize and champions trophy for first overall male and female in the Competitive category. Special recognition is given to first-place finishers in the listed age groups and to the master overall winners aged 40 and over. Fun Runner/Walker participants are not eligible for these awards.
Pre-race packet pick up is available on September 8 and September 11 at Maharaja Foods, 9060 W Golf Road, Niles, between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Race day packet pick up and registration occur at Beck Lake. Participant benefits noted by the organizer include event T-shirts for the timed categories, shuttle service from the finish to the start parking area, and complimentary coffee and water at the finish.
