Fit Forward 5K Run/Walk - Des Plaines
The Fit Forward 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for September 12, 2026. The course is point to point, beginning at Beck Lake Dog Park in Des Plaines and finishing at Allison Woods in Northbrook. Shuttle service is provided from the finish area to the parking lot near the start point. The event is presented by several community organizations including the Indian Social Workers Association of Illinois and the Indian Nurses Association of Illinois.
Race options include competitive and noncompetitive categories with different eligibility for awards and included items. Competitive and Encouraging Beginner entries are timed and include an event T-shirt; the Fun Runner/Walker option is noncompetitive and may offer a shorter distance.

Packet pick-up is available before race day at Maharaja Foods in Niles, and race day packet pick-up and registration take place at Beck Lake. Awards include a cash prize and champions trophy for First Overall Male and Female among competitive entrants, plus age-group recognitions spanning 10-14 through 70 and over. Additional participant benefits listed by the organizer include shuttle service and complimentary coffee and water at the finish.
