First Try Triathlon : Linden, Michigan
The First Try Triathlon takes place on June 20, 2026 at Byram Lake's Clover Beach, Linden County Park, 15349 S. Linden Road, Linden, MI 48451. The event includes adult and youth divisions held as separate races.
Divisions and registration: adult divisions are for ages 16 and up; youth divisions are for ages 15 and under with a minimum age of 12. Registration opens January 19, 2026 and closes May 31, 2026. Entry fees listed by the organizer are $55 and $60 depending on the division. No race day registration will be offered and no transfers are allowed. A USAT membership is required; one day membership options are offered during registration for a fee.
Course layout and safety notes: the swim is a 300 yard out and back in Byram Lake with water temperature expected around 75 to 80 degrees F. Kayaks will line the swim course for athletes who request assistance. The bike is an 11.3 mile loop that departs from and returns to the transition area at the beach parking lot; helmets are required. The run is a 2 mile out and back on the bike path toward the soccer fields.
Additional event details: start waves are sent at three minute intervals with adult fast waves typically first. All finishers in the FirstTry and FastTry races receive an official finisher medal; age group awards are given to FastTry top three finishers. Refunds are available if the event is cancelled for reasons other than weather, minus registration and USAT fees.
