First Gen 5K
The First Gen 5K is a community-driven 5k run and walk held on August 8, 2026 at Baseline Road Trailhead in Ocala, Florida. The event is organized to celebrate and support first-generation students and to direct proceeds to local scholarship initiatives and two named foundations.
The event distance is 3.1 Miles (5k) and the format includes official chip timing, finisher medals, and a participant shirt. Official pace groups are provided, listed as Sub 20, Sub 23, and Sub 26. Awards are given to top finishers and the event features sponsor and vendor booths, music, and drinks available before, during, and after the race.
The event also presents the First Gen Future Award, a $500 award recognizing a first-generation student for story, ambition, and future goals. Proceeds support the First Generation Foundation, the Vida Valiente Foundation, and local scholarship initiatives. Age divisions are 10-19 M/F, 20-29 M/F, 30-39 M/F, 40-49 M/F, and 50+ M/F.
