First Dam Scary Run
First Dam Scary Run is a road race held in Logan, Utah on Saturday, October 31, 2026. The event features two distances:
- 5K run
- 10K run
Both races start and finish on 300 E on the east side of Merlin Olsen Park, 280 E. Center Street. The 10K follows the 5K course for the first mile. Just past mile one the 5K turns right on Crockett Avenue while the 10K continues straight on Canyon Road, runs up along First Dam to the mouth of Logan Canyon, then returns along Canyon Road and rejoins the 5K route for the finish. The 10K route is therefore the 5K route plus an out and back section to First Dam.
Awards include plaques for the top three male and female finishers and awards for the first three in the following age groups: 11 and under, 12-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 plus, and a wheelchair category. Prizes are also raffled during the awards ceremony and winners must be present to claim raffle prizes.
Preregistration fees vary by date, with reduced rates available earlier and higher fees at race day. Facilities include restrooms at the start and finish and one aid station on the 10K course; there are no course restrooms. Chip timing and results are provided by Brooksee. Costumes are encouraged. Dogs are not allowed on the course or in the park. Strollers are permitted but must start at the back of the pack. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
