Firetower 5K at Oak Mountain, Speculator NY
The Firetower event on August 22, 2026 takes place at Oak Mountain in Speculator, New York and includes a timed 5K, a 2 mile walk, and a kids fun run. The event is scheduled as part of Oak Mountain's Adventure Weekend.
The 5K course starts in Oak Mountain's base area, follows Elm Lake Road, continues down the sidewalk through downtown Speculator, circles the Firetower, and returns via the same sidewalks and roads to the base area. The route passes through Adirondack scenery and combines paved roads and sidewalks.

Age categories are defined for the Kids Fun Run and for the 5K. Kids categories cover age 9 and under by sex. 5K categories include youth 14 and under by sex and adult categories for ages 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50+ by sex. Registration is listed as a $25 donation. Registration opens June 24, 2026 and closes August 21, 2026.
All proceeds benefit Youth Winter Activities for Hamilton County. The event is part of a weekend program that includes Oak Mountain hiking and biking opportunities and a separate Oakrunner Trail Run 5K/10K on August 23, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
