Event Overview
The Wakely Dam Ultra is a 55 km ultra marathon held in the Adirondack Park wilderness of New York State. The point-to-point course follows a remote section of the Northville Placid Trail between Piseco Lake and the Wakely Dam. It is a self-supported and technically demanding trail race with 3300 feet of total elevation gain. There are no crossroads along the route. Finishing requires participants to be self-sufficient.
Registration & Qualification
Registration requires qualification. The registration fee is $115.00. To register, runners must provide a public link to results from a recent qualifying race, such as a 5:15 road marathon, a 9:30 50k trail race, a 50-mile finish, or a prior Wakely Dam Ultra finish within specified time frames. Payment is collected at registration but is not charged until the runner's qualifying result is validated.
Event Weekend
Check-in and packet pickup occur on Friday at the Piseco Airport. A pre-race pasta meal is included for participants and their guests. On race morning, a bus transports participants from the airport to the start line. A mandatory pre-race briefing is held for first-time participants. The post-race party includes food for runners and their families. Hiking or walking poles are not permitted during the race.
