Wakely Dam Ultra
The Wakely Dam Ultra is a 55K ultra marathon held in the Adirondack Park on a remote section of the Northville Placid Trail between Piseco Lake and the Wakely Dam in Piseco, NY. The course is technical trail with about 3,300 feet of total elevation gain and no crossroads; when runners enter at the dam they can either emerge at the Piseco Airport or return the way they came.
The event is totally self-supported and runners must provide their own aid. Registration includes a race shirt, additional swag, and two meals: a pre-race pasta dinner and a post-race meal and party for runners and their guests. The 2026 registration fee is $115.
The organizers require a validation race during registration. Acceptable validation performances include a 5:15 or faster road marathon within the last 12 months; a 9:30 or faster 50K trail race within the last 12 months; a 50-mile finish within the last 12 months; or a Wakely finish within the last two years. Registrants must supply the name and year of the validating race and a public link to their results; credit card information is collected at registration but payment is not processed until validation is complete. The event maintains sweep crews that pick up any trash seen on course.
Camping is not allowed at the Piseco Airport. Camping at the dam is limited to designated sites with a two-tent limit per site; additional primitive campsites are available nearby on a first-come, first-served basis. The finish area will be taken down once the crew completes post-race operations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
