About the race
Firefly Night Run is an evening trail event at the Garden Route Botanical Gardens, organized by Gracehill College to raise funds for a school bus. The event is intended as a family-friendly outing with walking and running on garden trails and an emphasis on enjoying the outdoors.
Distances offered:
- 3 km Run / Walk (Adult and Kids categories)
- 5 km Run
- 10 km Run
The venue is the Garden Route Botanical Gardens EEC Centre in George, Western Cape. Organisers expect more than 300 participants. Entry fees vary by distance and age category, with separate adult and kids pricing and a surcharge for late on-the-day entries. Two water points are provided: one at the 5 km mark and one at the finish. All finishers receive medals. Podium places are awarded to the top three men and women in each category; only children up to age 10 receive podium prizes in the 3 km category. Prize-giving takes place 15 minutes after the relevant category podium finishers have crossed the line.
The event includes on-site food and family activities such as burgers, curry, vetkoek, cold drinks, a jumping castle and kiddies games. Dogs are permitted but must be leashed and socialized; participants are asked to use prams suitable for trails. Cash and card facilities are available.
