Firecracker 4 Road Race - Saratoga Springs
The Firecracker 4 is an annual Independence Day road race held in downtown Saratoga Springs at the Saratoga Springs City Center, 522 Broadway. The event draws more than 2,500 runners and walkers and is described as the largest Fourth of July race in New York. Proceeds benefit trail development, recreation programs, and other healthy lifestyle programs selected by FC4, Inc., a 501c3 nonprofit.
The event program includes:
- 0.2 miles Sparkler Run for younger children
- 4 miles Firecracker 4 road race
The four-mile course begins on Broadway in front of the City Center, proceeds south past historic buildings and Congress Park, and turns into the city’s East Side neighborhood before finishing on Maple Avenue behind the City Center. The finish area features commemorative medals for the first 2,800 finishers, post-race food and music, and a community atmosphere.
Additional event elements include a free lead-up training series in Saratoga Springs from June 11 to July 2 with coach-led workouts and Saturday track sessions, a Run Your Colors team competition with charitable donations for top teams, and volunteer roles such as course marshals and water stop staff. Packet pick-up locations occur in the days leading up to the race at local Fleet Feet stores and at the City Center. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
