Firecracker 4 Road Race : Saratoga Springs, NY
The Firecracker 4 is an annual Independence Day road race held in downtown Saratoga Springs and produced by FC4 Inc. and Raven Events. The event is in its 20th year and supports more than 2,500 runners and walkers. Activities are centered at the Saratoga Springs City Center, 522 Broadway.
Two timed events are offered:
- Sparkler Run 0.2 miles for younger children
- Firecracker 4 4 miles through downtown Saratoga Springs
The four-mile course starts on Broadway in front of the City Center, proceeds south past historic buildings and Congress Park, then turns into the East Side neighborhood and finishes on Maple Avenue behind the City Center. The finish area includes food, music, and community activities, and a special commemorative medal is guaranteed to the first 2,800 finishers.
The event includes competitive divisions with prize money for Open and Masters divisions, incentives for USATF registered teams, and a course record bonus. An elite runner program is maintained with qualifying standards for 4 miles.
Additional features include a community team competition with charitable donations for top teams, a free lead-up training series in June with coach-led workouts and vendor demos, volunteer opportunities along the course, and local restaurant race week specials.
