Firecracker Trek Sherman
Firecracker Trek Sherman is a trail event held at Herman Baker Park (2500 W. Center St., Sherman, TX 75092). The event offers two looped trail distances and runs on single track that includes rocky and rooty sections, dirt, and several bridges.
The course uses the Herman Baker Trail and part of the Binkley Park Trail. Each 5K loop includes slight elevation change. The route passes rolling terrain, cliffside views, switchbacks, and flowing water features. The race is cupless; participants should bring a personal cup or bottle because disposable cups are not provided.
Parking is at the main parking lot near the start and finish area. Packet pickup is available before the race and a marked and supported course includes aid station hydration and snacks. Photography is provided and staff and volunteers support runners along the route.
Finishers receive a Firecracker Trek water bottle that serves as the finisher medal. Awards are given for 1st through 3rd place for men and women, an Old Timer 1st place for age 50 and over, and a DFL award. Historic average July temperatures are listed around 96 degrees Fahrenheit (36 C), which may reflect typical conditions for the event month.
