Firecracker Run 5K : Downtown Beaufort, July 4, 2026
The Firecracker Run is a 5K event held on July 4, 2026 in Downtown Beaufort on Bay Street. The in-person 5K follows a USATF certified course and uses gun time. The course starts and finishes at Freedom Mall, crosses Woods Memorial Bridge to Lady's Island, proceeds down Meridian Road to Youmans Drive, and returns the same route.
Two participation options are available:
- 5K in-person (3.1 miles)
- 5K virtual with optional mailed shirt
In-person registration opens January 30, 2026 and closes July 2, 2026; the in-person fee is $35. Virtual registration opens April 1, 2026 and closes June 30, 2026; the virtual fee is $25. Virtual participants may request a mailed shirt for an additional $15; organizers will make a best effort to mail shirts before the event when requested. T shirt sizes are not guaranteed for registrations after June 1, 2026.
Packet pickup is available at Grounded Running, 2139 Boundary Street, Ste 108, Beaufort, SC 29902, on Friday, July 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Same day entries are accepted on race day during a morning registration window only.
Age categories range from under 12 to 70 plus. Prizes are awarded to the top three overall male and female and to the top two male and female in each age division; awards apply to in-person participants only. Registration and shipping fees are not refundable. If an in person race cannot be held, entries will transfer to a virtual format. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
