FireCracker Footrace : Park Rapids, MN
The 48th Annual FireCracker Footrace takes place at Heartland Park in Park Rapids, Minnesota on July 4, 2026. The main event is a chip-timed, USATF-certified 5K hosted at the park. The previous edition drew more than 900 runners; organizers state a goal of welcoming over 1,000 participants for 2026.
Awards are given by age group and overall performance. The top three male and female finishers in each age group receive medals. The top five male and female finishers overall are awarded gift cards provided by local sponsors Main Street Meats and Enjoy.
A free kids fun run for ages 12 and under follows the 5K. No formal registration is required for the kids run; participants may pick up a bib at the finish area. Popsicles will be provided to finishers and Cuzzins Candy Store will distribute tickets for additional treats. The kids run includes several short distances to suit different age groups.
Online registration is listed as ending July 2, with packet pickup and walk-up registration available at Heartland Park on the days immediately before and of the event. A group discount applies when five or more people register together; each runner in that group receives a $5 reduction in entry fee.
