FireCracker Footrace
The FireCracker Footrace is the 48th annual 5K event held at Heartland Park in Park Rapids, Minnesota on July 4, 2026. The race returns to Heartland Park after a community vote to bring the event back to that venue.
The 5K course is presented as a certified USATF fast course and will be chip timed by Pickle Events. Last year more than 900 runners participated and organizers aim to exceed 1,000 participants in 2026.

Packet pickup and walk up registration are available the evening before the event and the morning of the event. Online registration closes July 2 and registrations submitted by June 26 are guaranteed a race t shirt. A group discount applies when five or more runners are registered in a single order; each runner receives a five dollar reduction in the entry fee applied at checkout.
The kids fun run follows the 5K and offers three to four different short distances to match age groups such as ages 4 and under, 5 to 7, and 8 and older. The community day in Park Rapids includes open shops and restaurants, a Main Street parade, Music in the Park, and a fireworks display at Heartland Park.
