The Firecracker 5k/1-Mile Fun Run takes place on Sunday, June 28, 2026 in Kenosha, WI at Library Park (711 59th Place, Kenosha, WI 53140). The event includes the following distances:

- 5k
The course is a closed, USATF-certified route that runs along Kenosha’s lake front harbor and historic district. There are three water stations on course. Only the 5k is chip timed; the timing chip is located on the race bib and bibs should be worn front and center for accurate timing. T-shirts and participant medals are provided to the first 600 entrants; size preferences are assigned by registration order. Prices apply to both events regardless of age. Pre-registration is online only with tiered fees; a last-chance in-person registration is available at the Kenosha YMCA for $45. Race entry fees are non-refundable.
Logistics and rules
Packet pick-up is offered at the Kenosha YMCA the day before the race and at Library Park on race day. Public parking and on-street parking are available; participants must follow posted signs and not park in unauthorized lots. Awards apply to the 5k only: trophies for overall male and female winners and age-group medals for top 3 male/female in specified categories; overall winners are not eligible for age-group awards. Finisher medals are available at the finish line; awards will not be mailed and must be picked up by the stated deadline. Results will be posted online and the event is timed and scored by J3 Timing.
General rules include wearing bibs on the front, no bicycles or skate devices, baby strollers allowed but must stay behind runners, no dogs, and a requirement that runners age 10 and under be accompanied by a registered running buddy. The organizing YMCA may cancel or modify the event for severe weather; cancellation does not result in fee refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
