Firecracker 5K at Campbell County YMCA
The event is a community 5K run/walk held at Tower Park behind the Mess Hall in Fort Thomas, KY. The course proceeds north on Ft. Thomas Avenue to a turnaround at Highlands High School and returns to finish behind the Mess Hall; the course may be subject to change due to construction. The event location is listed as 801 Cochran St., Fort Thomas, KY 41075. Parking is available on the south side of the VA Hospital, and parking in Tower Park is restricted.
There are two 5K entries: a general 5K Run/Walk and a 5K Run/Walk for teachers. Registration fees and timing details are provided by the organizer; pre-race pricing includes a $35 option without a shirt and a $45 option with a shirt (limited to 274 shirts). Race day fee increases to $50; payment is by credit card only. Packet pickup is scheduled on July 2 and July 3 at the Campbell County YMCA, with race day pickup available in the Mess Hall.
Awards include commemorative medals for the first 600 finishers, medals for the top two male and female division winners, and trophies for overall male and female winner and runner up. Additional patriotic awards will be given for creative attire and presentation. A free kids fun run for children under 10 takes place around the Mess Hall; lightly used or new children’s running shoes will be collected for donation to the Brighton Center.
