Firecracker 5K - Campbell County YMCA
The Firecracker 5K takes place at Tower Park and the Fort Thomas Mess Hall in Fort Thomas, Kentucky (801 Cochran St.). The course begins and ends behind the Mess Hall, follows Fort Thomas Ave north to a turnaround at Highlands High School, and returns to Tower Park. The course is subject to change due to construction.
Open registration dates are published for the event. A separate 5K Run/Walk for teachers has its own registration window and no registration fee. Standard registration fees include $35 without a shirt and $45 with a shirt; shirts are limited to 268. Registration fees increase on race day to $50. Payment is by credit card only. Packet pickup is scheduled at the Campbell County YMCA on July 2 and July 3, with additional race day pickup at the Mess Hall.
Awards include commemorative medals for the first 500 finishers, medals for the top two male and female finishers in each division, and trophies for the overall male and female winner and runner up. Additional Patriotic Awards may recognize costumes, flags, and other decorations. Race divisions are Male/Female 15 & Under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+, and a stroller division.
A separate kids fun run for children under 10 requires no registration and has no charge. Gently used or new children's running shoes will be collected for donation to the Brighton Center. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
