About the race
The Fire Runner 5K is a running race held on June 12 at Lost Island parks in Waterloo, Iowa. The course runs alongside the lazy river sidewalk at Lost Island Waterpark and continues through Lost Island Themepark, passing attractions named Tamariki, Udara, Awa, Yuta, and finishing in Mura at the Fire Runner attraction, which was the USA Today Readers' Choice Award winner for Best New Theme Park Attraction of 2025.

Registration opens February 2, 2027 and closes April 13, 2027. The standard registration fee is $25. Included with registration are race entry, entry to Lost Island Theme Park on the day of the race, a Fire Runner 5K t-shirt, and a race bib. Access to Lost Island Waterpark on race day is available as an additional add-on ticket for $25.
