Fire Runner 5K
The Fire Runner 5K takes place at Lost Island Themepark and Waterpark in Waterloo, Iowa. Participants follow a course that moves through the waterpark area, following the sidewalk along the lazy river. The route then enters the theme park, passing through different themed lands including Tamariki, Udara, Awa, and Yuta. The race concludes in the Mura area at the Fire Runner roller coaster.
Registration for the event includes several items:
- 5 km race entry
- Single-day admission to Lost Island Theme Park
- Commemorative t-shirt
- Official race bib
The event is open to participants of various fitness levels, and walking is permitted. Strollers are allowed on the course, and children aged three and under can participate for free, while those four and older require registration. The race is held rain or shine. While theme park entry is included, access to the waterpark requires an additional purchase.
Awards are presented to the overall first-place male and female finishers. Recognition is also given to the top three male and female finishers in several age categories: 18 and under, 19-35, 35-65, and 65+.
