Fire on the Mountain 50K Trail Race
Fire on the Mountain is a trail running event in Little Orleans, Maryland, held in Green Ridge State Forest. The event offers two distances and uses out and back routing on forest trails and service roads. The 50K course measures about 31.95 miles and includes seven aid stations; three of those stations are encountered twice and there is an oasis at the midway point. The 50K has an official cutoff time of 10 hours and 0 seconds.
The 25K course measures about 16.3 miles and has three aid stations with one station encountered twice. The 25K route includes approximately 6.5 miles of trail that can be technical with roots, rocks and narrow sections described as "billy goat" trails, plus about 9.6 miles of forest service road and improved dirt roads. The 25K cutoff time is 4 hours and 45 minutes.
All finishers who complete their event inside the official cutoff receive a finisher’s premium. The event policy states no refunds or transfers, with exceptions for military service or pregnancy in some cases. A single training run is scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2026, meeting at the finish line to cover portions of the course. Registration opens on February 2, 2026 and closes on November 1, 2026.
