About the race
Fire on the Mountain 50K Trail Race is scheduled for November 1, 2026 in Little Orleans, MD, with course running through Green Ridge State Forest. Registration opens February 2, 2026 and closes November 1, 2026; fee ranges listed for prior registrations were between USD 76.87 and 92.81.
Distances
- 50K : about 31.95 miles; out and back course with seven aid stations (three are passed twice) and an oasis at the midway point.
- 25K : about 16.3 miles; three aid stations (one is passed twice).
Course and cutoffs: the 50K has an official cutoff of 10 hours 0 seconds for an official finish. The 25K cutoff is 4 hours 45 minutes. The 25K course includes approximately 6.5 miles of trail that can be technical, with roots, rocks and narrow sections near the creek, plus about 9.6 miles of forest service road and improved dirt roads. Organizers note it is unlikely a runner will negative split this course in typical conditions.
Additional event details: all finishers who complete their race within the official cutoff receive a finisher premium. No refunds or transfers are permitted, with limited exceptions for military service or pregnancy. Volunteers are needed to staff several aid stations.
