Event overview
Fire on the Mountain 50K Trail Race is scheduled for Sunday, November 1, 2026, in Green Ridge State Forest near Little Orleans, MD. Registration opens on February 2, 2026. A fall training run is scheduled for Sunday, September 27 and will start at the race finish area; the training run will use the red trail for runs of about 7 to 15 miles.
Distances and course
- 50K - about 31.95 miles, out-and-back course
- 25K - about 16.3 miles
The 50K course has seven aid stations; three of those stations are visited twice and there is an additional midway "oasis." The 25K course has three aid stations, with one visited twice. The 25K includes about 6.5 miles of trail that can be technical with roots, rocks and narrow sections, plus about 9.6 miles of forest service road and improved dirt roads.
Cutoffs and services
Finishers who complete their event within the official cutoff times receive a finisher’s premium. The 50K cutoff is 10 hours. The 25K cutoff is listed as 4 hours and 45 minutes. Volunteers are needed to staff the aid stations across the course.
Series participation
A Distinguished Participant status is available to runners who take part in five of seven designated events in the organizer’s series, including Fire on the Mountain (choose the 25K or 50K). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
