Fire Breathing Dragon Homecoming Fun Run
The Fire Breathing Dragon Homecoming Fun Run takes place in Johnston, Iowa on September 24, 2026. The event is hosted by the Johnston Girl's XCTF Booster Club and is held along the Johnston Homecoming parade route on Pioneer Parkway. The meeting area is at 6501 NW 62nd Ave, Johnston, IA 50131.
The course for the 2-mile route starts at Pioneer Parkway and North Drive (Corteva Entrance) with a turnaround at Pioneer Parkway and Greendale Road. Runners proceed out on the east side of Pioneer Parkway and return on the west side. Packet pick up and parking are located in the lot east of Johnston Middle School. Restrooms are available at the Johnston Middle School track.
The event schedule includes multiple running events in sequence, beginning with the 800 Meter Run, followed by the 1 Mile Run, the 2 Mile Community Run, high school cross country boys, and finishing with high school cross country girls.
Registration fees are specified by event: the 800 Meter Run and 1 Mile Run are $15 each, the 2 Mile Run is $20, and a family registration option for up to six participants is $40.
