Fire Ball Half and 4 Mile
The event is based at the Mack Dick Pavilion in Palo Duro Canyon State Park near Canyon, TX. It offers two trail distances:
- Half Marathon deeper canyon route with red rock walls and cottonwood trees.
- 4 Mile loop on the Comanche/Kiowa trails.
Courses use a variety of surfaces, including smooth single track, sand, and rock, with short but steep technical ascents and descents. Both races head west onto the Comanche trail from the start area.
There is one aid station on the half marathon course located about halfway at Mesquite. This is a cupless race so participants must carry their own hydration bottle, pack, or cup to refill. The aid station will be stocked with water, Hyperlyte liquid performance drink mix, coke, ginger ale, pickle juice, gels, grapes, bananas, and assorted sweet and salty snacks.
Packet pick-up is available in the days before the event and on race day. Specific packet pick-up locations include an event night with Amarillo Pub Runners, Get Fit Georgia (1911 S Georgia St.), and the Mack Dick parking lot (Get Fit tent) on race day.
Race policies state no dogs are allowed on course, trekking poles are permitted, pacers are not allowed, and headphones are not allowed. Distance changes are allowed through the registration partner up until race week. There are no refunds, rollovers, or race day changes. The registration fee includes a hot meal after the race.
Awards are given for overall and masters placements and across multiple age groups from 14 and under through 80 plus. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
