Fire Ball Half and 4 Mile
The Fire Ball Half and 4 Mile takes place on August 22, 2026 at Mack Dick Pavilion in Palo Duro Canyon State Park near Canyon, TX. The event is organized by PALO DURO TRAIL RUN SERIES.
Runners follow a mixture of trails including smooth single track, sand, rock, and short but steep technical ascents and descents. The half marathon route goes deeper into the canyon and passes red rock walls, bluffs, and cottonwood trees by a stream. Both courses begin by heading west onto the Comanche trail.
Aid is provided for the half marathon only with one aid station located approximately halfway at Mesquite. This is a cupless race so participants must carry their own hydration or cup. The aid station will be stocked with water, Hyperlyte drink mix, soda, pickle juice, gels, grapes, bananas, and assorted snacks.
Entry and logistics notes include packet pick-up on the days prior to the race and on race day at the Mack Dick parking lot. Distance changes are allowed through the registration partner up until race week; no race day changes, refunds, rollovers, or credits are offered. Course cutoff for the half marathon is 4.5 hours to be included in results and eligible for awards. Awards are given for overall and masters winners plus standard age groups.
