FIR 5K : Berkshire Running Foundation (September 13, 2026)
The FIR 5K is a fundraiser for the Fitness In Recovery (FIR) program, a health and fitness initiative that supports people in recovery and their supporters and families. The event takes place on the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail with the start and finish at the Crane Avenue trailhead in Pittsfield, MA.
Registration fees are listed as $30, with free entry for Berkshire County students K-12 (ages 0 to 18). An online processing fee applies and there are no refunds or deferments. Race participants receive a technical race shirt (sizes not guaranteed) and post-race refreshments; offerings include Bartlett’s cider donuts and apple cider. The race benefits the FIR program.
The course is an out-and-back route on the rail trail. Support on course includes porta-potties at the start/finish and water stops at miles 1, 2, and the finish. Prizes are awarded to the overall top three men and women and to top finishers in standard age categories (0-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+). Spectators are not permitted to enter the finish chute.
Parking is available at the Allendale Shopping Center, approximately 500 yards from the start/finish. No dogs or pets are allowed. Wheelchairs and disabled push strollers are welcomed; organizers ask for prior notice to arrange accommodations. If the event is canceled, organizers plan to convert it to a virtual event and mail the race goodie bag. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
