Event overview
The Fighting the Fight Within 5K (FFW) is scheduled for August 8, 2026, at Veterans Serving Veterans Community Park in Cadillac, Michigan (3740 S. 41 Rd., Cadillac, MI 49601). The day includes a 5K timed run and a 1-mile untimed tribute walk. The 5K will be professionally timed. Participants are encouraged to wear patriotic colors or shirts representing a military branch or in memory of someone, and may select one or more names at check-in to carry during the run or walk.

Logistics, fees and purpose
Registration opens April 20, 2026. Entry fees listed by the organizer are $35 for the 5K with special pricing of $20 for middle and high school participants ages 8 to 18, and $22 for the 1-mile walk; children 5 and under are free without event swag. An additional online processing fee applies at checkout. Awards will be given to the overall top male and female (overall winners are not eligible for age-group awards) and to the top three males and females in the age groups: 9 and under, 10-13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Funds raised will support the host nonprofit’s outreach, transitional housing projects, a veterans scholarship at Northwestern Michigan College, and free programs and resources for local veterans.
