Fighting the Fight Within 5K (FFW)
Fighting the Fight Within 5K (FFW) is a community event in Cadillac, Michigan held at Veterans Serving Veterans Community Park, 3740 S. 41 Rd., Cadillac, MI 49601. The event is composed of a professionally timed 5K run and an untimed 1-mile tribute walk.
Event distances include:
- 5K professionally timed run; part of the 2026 Traverse City Track Club Grand Prix.
- 1 Mile untimed tribute walk; a remembrance and community walk.
Organizers encourage participants to consider patriotic colors or shirts that represent a military branch or commemorate someone. Participants may select one or more names at check-in to carry with them during the run or walk.
Awards are planned for the overall top male and female, who will not be eligible for age-group placing, and for the top three males and females in these age groups: 9 and under; 10-13; 14-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70 and over.
Pricing information published by organizers lists the 5K at $35, middle school and high school ages 8 to 18 at $20, a Traverse City Track Club member discount of $5, and the 1-mile walk at $22 with children 5 and under free without swag. Proceeds support the VSV outreach center Belay My Last Barracks, a transitional housing project, the Staff Sergeant Drew Kostic Veterans’ Scholarship at Northwestern Michigan College, and free programs and resources for local veterans.
