About the race
The XVIII International Festival of Hiking and Mountain on La Palma is a multi-day event held from 18 to 20 September that brings residents and visitors into direct contact with the island's natural, heritage and ethnographic resources. The programme includes a series of guided routes led by professionals that offer contextual information about landscape, geology, history and local traditions.
Routes take place across different areas of the island and include names such as Del Tajogaite a Caños de Fuego, Volcanes de Cumbre Vieja, Sendero entre Almendras, Geotermia en Niquiomo, Pico Bejenado, Estrellas entre volcanes, Caldera de Taburiente and Bosque Ancestral among others. All routes start and finish at the Plaza del Senderista (Plaza de España de Santa Cruz de la Palma). The stated route durations do not include transport times.
Organisers are the Cabildo de La Palma and Sodepal, with collaboration from the town council of Santa Cruz de la Palma and local partners. The festival emphasises the value of the island's landscapes, clear skies and its extensive network of trails, and links outdoor activity with efforts to value and promote sustainability and local heritage.
