The Athlete's Foot Fernleigh 15
The Athlete's Foot Fernleigh 15 is a point-to-point 15 km event along the Fernleigh Track from Adamstown to Belmont. The event uses exclusive track access, with the Fernleigh Track closed to the public for the duration of the event. There is also a shorter children’s event of 1500 m.
The course follows the former rail line through Newcastle and Lake Macquarie and includes four aid stations with water and electrolyte at the following approximate locations: Burwood Road (3.1 km), Whitebridge (5.2 km, toilets available), Cowlishaw Road (9.2 km, toilets available) and Kalaroo Road (11.8 km). Additional toilets are available at registration and at the finish area. The course profile rises slowly to the tunnel at Burwood Road then varies, with mostly flat or slightly downhill sections from about 5 km.
Event services include a secure bag drop at the start with bags transported to the finish for collection, race timing via a timing chip attached to the race bib, live interim results on race day, and on-site first aid. Limited parking is available at St Pius X near the start; paid parking is available at nearby Westfield Kotara or Kotara HomeCo. Optional shuttle bus return transport from the Belmont finish to Adamstown is offered for a fee.
Prize money is offered to overall run winners with amounts for first, second and third places; to be eligible competitors must start in the elite wave. Entry categories cover adults and juniors with age-based divisions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
