Fellows Frolic
Fellows Frolic is a trail event held at Morgan Hill State Forest near Spruce Pond in Tully, New York on August 22, 2026. The course is a roughly 3.3 mile loop with about 607 feet of elevation gain; the loop is marked primarily with orange blazes and passes near the blue-blazed North Country Trail. Participants follow a procedure where the starting direction is determined by bib number (and sometimes a coin toss); after completing a loop and returning to the aid station, runners head out the way they came in and run the next loop in the opposite direction.
Two event formats are described: a timed 3-hour race that counts how many loops a participant completes, and a $1,000 Challenge in which the first male and female to complete seven laps win the prize. A gender equivalent standard is stated for the $1,000 Challenge: men must complete seven laps in three hours and women in three hours 27 minutes. Timing will be recorded by hand and results uploaded the same night, with live timing used for awards.
Facilities and logistics include limited parking for about eight cars at the Spruce Pond area with overflow parking roughly one mile away on Shackham Road, a single port-a-potty on site with an expectation that participants may use the woods, and aid stations offering water, Gatorade, and a few snacks. Headphones are not permitted. Registration opens February 1, 2026 with fees noted as $45 through August 1, 2026 and $55 from August 2 through August 21, 2026. There are no transfers, deferrals, or refunds. Race day bib pickup is scheduled from 7:30 am to 8:00 am. Swag options include a mug or a drawstring bag.
