Fellows Frolic : Morgan Hill State Forest trail races
Fellows Frolic comprises two linked trail events held at Morgan Hill State Forest near Spruce Pond in Tully, New York, on August 22, 2026. Both events use a loop of roughly 3.3 miles with an overall elevation gain of about 607 feet and are marked primarily with orange blazes; blue blazes for the North Country Trail appear near Spruce Pond. The loop is run alternately in opposite directions: the 3-Hour Race sets the initial direction by bib number and a coin toss, and the $1,000 Challenge sets the initial direction by a bib number method used that year.
The 3-Hour Race asks participants to complete as many loops as possible within a three-hour window. The $1,000 Challenge requires completing seven laps; the gender equivalent target lists seven laps in three hours for men and seven laps in three hours 27 minutes for women. Timing will be recorded by hand, results uploaded the same evening, and live timing will be used for awards.
Event logistics note limited parking for about eight cars at Spruce Pond with overflow parking in two larger lots on Shackham Road about a mile away. Race day bib pickup only. Aid stations provide water, Gatorade, and a few snacks. A port-a-potty is present but participants are advised to plan for restroom use in the woods. Headphones are not permitted. Registration opens February 1, 2026; entry fees are $45 through August 1, 2026, and $55 from August 2 through August 21, 2026. Swag is a mug or drawstring bag. The 3-Hour Race awards ribbons for first through third place by gender. The $1,000 Challenge awards $1,000 to the first male and first female to complete seven laps. There are no transfers, deferrals, or refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
