Federation Ultra Trail : Monarto SA
The Federation Ultra Trail is a trail running event held at Monarto Safari Park and the southern end of the Lavender/Federation Trail. The course runs from the Monarto Safari Park Visitor Centre along trails toward the riverside trail head at Sturt Reserve in Murray Bridge. The event began in 2018.
Runners are given access to Monarto Safari Park walking trails that allow glimpses of roaming wild African animals, including meerkats, giraffe, bison, chimpanzees and rhinos. The event has supported conservation; proceeds have raised in excess of $35,000 donated to Monarto Safari Park to help protect endangered species.
The event offers multiple entry categories and a team relay. Distances and options include:
- FED Ultra (single-run ultra distance)
- Fed 35km
- Fed Mid Distance 26km
- Fed 10km Zoo Loop, starts and finishes at visitor centre
- Zoo Five 5km family friendly and for walkers
- FED Relay 56km, up to 4 person team
Since 2019 the Federation Ultra Trail has been part of the S.A. Five 50’s Ultra series. The event is organised by Murraylands Multisports Inc and lists limited places for some categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
