Event Overview
The Federation Ultra Trail is a trail running event held in Monarto, South Australia. Established in 2018, the race utilizes the southern section of the Lavender-Federation Trail. The course begins at the Monarto Safari Park Visitor Centre and concludes at the Sturt Reserve trail head in Murray Bridge.
Participants receive access to walking trails within the Monarto Safari Park. This section of the course provides opportunities to view various animals, including giraffes, rhinos, chimpanzees, bison, and meerkats. The event supports conservation efforts, with proceeds donated to the Monarto Safari Park to assist in the protection of endangered species.

- 26 km Mid Distance
- 10 km Zoo Loop (starts and finishes at the Visitor Centre)
- 5 km Zoo Loop (designed for walkers and families)
The long-distance ultra race is part of the South Australian Five 50s Ultra series. The relay format involves multiple legs, where team members run specific sections of the course and join together for the final 500 meters to cross the finish line as a group.
Course details
The route transitions from the safari park environment to the regional trail network connecting Monarto to Murray Bridge. The 10 km and 5 km loop options are contained within the park area, while the longer distances follow the Federation Trail toward the river.
