FBI Jerry Dove Memorial 5K
The FBI Jerry Dove Memorial 5K is an annual running event held in Bridgeport, West Virginia. The race is dedicated to the memory of Special Agent Jerry Dove and honors law enforcement officers, firefighters, and military personnel who have died in the line of duty. The event is sponsored by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Citizens Academy Alumni Association.
The event features two primary distances:
- 5 km
- Kids - K (50 yard-dash and 100 yard-dash)
The 5 km course is a paved out-and-back route located on Jerry Dove Drive. It starts and finishes inside the East Security Gate of the FBI CJIS Division Complex. Participants run toward the main facility, loop around a designated parking area, and return to the starting point. Water stations are positioned at approximately mile 1 and mile 2. Due to security protocols at the facility, no one is permitted on the course before the race begins, and only registered participants are allowed on the course during the event.
Walkers are welcome to participate and will start at the same time as the runners. For safety and security reasons, the use of bicycles, strollers, or roller blades is not permitted. Cameras are restricted to the start and finish line areas only and are prohibited on the race course. Awards are provided for the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in various age categories ranging from 12 and under to 60 and over.
