The FBE Juneteenth 5K in San Diego is an annual community event hosted by Fit, Black, and Educated, Inc. (FBE). This event honors Juneteenth, which commemorates the announcement of freedom for enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, in 1865. Race Options
Participants can choose from several event distances and formats:
- 5K: A 3.1 mile course for those who wish to run, walk, or roll.
- 1K Kids Freedom Dash: A 0.62 mile run specifically for children.
- Virtual 5K: A 3.1 mile distance that can be completed at any location, such as neighborhood streets or treadmills.
Participation Details
Entry for the in-person 5K includes a race bib and a finisher medal. Following the race, there is a community celebration. Participants also have the option to purchase a race shirt as an add-on during the registration process, subject to availability.
The event is open to individuals of all fitness levels. In-person activities take place in San Diego, while virtual participants are encouraged to document their progress remotely.
