Family Enrichment Center's Run & Walk for Children
The Family Enrichment Center's Run & Walk for Children is an annual multi-distance event hosted at Ephram White Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This edition marks the 30th anniversary of the event and serves as a kick-off for Child Abuse Prevention Month. The weekend activities begin on a Friday evening with a Family Expo and Pasta Party. This is followed by a non-competitive mile for children. Saturday morning features the primary running and walking events on courses through the park area.
The event offers several distances and categories for participants:
- Half-Marathon (13.1 Miles)
- 5K Run (3.1 Miles)
- 5K Fun Walk (3.1 Miles)
- Kids One Mile GLOW RUN (1 Mile)
The Half-Marathon has a three-hour time limit. Both the Half-Marathon and 5K Run are chip-timed for competitive results, and participants in these categories are eligible for age-category awards. Registrants for the timed races and the fun walk receive a race shirt and a finisher's medal, as well as access to pre and post-race snacks.
The kids' event, held on Friday evening, is free for children age 12 and under. The first 200 children to register for this mile receive a specific long-sleeve shirt and a finisher's tag. The 30th-anniversary celebration includes a 1990s theme, featuring music and media from that decade throughout the venue. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
