Family Enrichment Center's Run & Walk for Children
The Family Enrichment Center's Run & Walk for Children is held in Bowling Green, Kentucky, at Ephram White Park. This event marks its 30th anniversary by coordinating several distances over a two-day schedule. The program serves as a kickoff for Child Abuse Prevention Month and features a 90s theme including music and era-specific entertainment.
The scheduled distances include:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 5K Run (3.1 miles)
- 5K Fun Walk (3.1 miles)
- Kids One-Mile Glow Run
The festivities begin on Friday evening with a packet pick-up that includes a family expo and a pasta and pizza party. The activity on this evening concludes with a free one-mile run for children age 12 and under. The primary running and walking events take place on the following Saturday morning. Roads leading into Ephram White Park are closed to vehicle traffic shortly before the half marathon begins.
Participants in the half marathon and 5K run are chip-timed and eligible for age-category awards. The half marathon has a three-hour time limit. Registration for these competitive distances includes a long-sleeve race shirt, a finisher's medal, a meal ticket for the pasta party, and snacks. Participants in the 5K walk receive a poly-cotton blend shirt and a finisher's medal. For the children's event, the first 200 registrants are provided with a long-sleeve shirt and a finisher's tag.
Registration fees are non-refundable, though the organizers allow transfers to other individuals or categories through a digital dashboard until a specified deadline in mid-March. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
