Fallen Soldiers 5K at Western Illinois University
The Fallen Soldiers 5K is a fundraising run held at Western Illinois University on October 10, 2026. Proceeds benefit the WIU Fallen Soldiers Scholarship Fund, which supports veterans and service members currently enrolled at Western. Before the race, a program honors the fallen soldiers for whom the scholarship was established and recognizes current scholarship recipients.

Early registration pricing through September 21 is listed as $10 for WIU students, $30 for the regular race (5K and 1 mile), and $40 for the virtual race. Registration on or before September 21 guarantees a shirt. A virtual race option is available for participants who do not attend in person.
Packet pick-up takes place the day before the event at the Spencer Student Recreation Center, Keeney Room, and on race day outside the Spencer Student Recreation Center at the Mac Gym entrance. A route map is provided by the organizer. The event typically attracts about 400 to 500 participants to the WIU campus.
