About the race
The event is hosted at Camp Ewalu in Strawberry Point, Iowa, and includes a trail race and a short Color Run through the camp's Pioneer Village.

The 5K uses the full, new Ewa-Loop trail, a 2.5 mile single-track route through forested areas of the camp. The 5K course is primarily dirt single-track with a short section on a wider prairie trail to reach the full distance. There are no roads on the 5K course.
The 0.25 mile Color Run follows the 5K and runs through Ewalu's Pioneer Village. Several color stations are placed along the 1/4 mile course. White shirts will be provided to registrants who register by August 21.
Entry fees are stated as $25.00 for the Grotto Gallop Trail 5K and free for the Color Run. The event takes place alongside Ewalu's 65th anniversary celebration; attendees of the anniversary will receive discounted entry via a provided discount code.
