Everyday Heroes Needed Race 2 Rescue 5K Color Run and Walk
The Everyday Heroes Needed Race 2 Rescue 5K Color Run and Walk is scheduled for June 13, 2026 at Stony Creek Metropark Eastwood Beach in Shelby Township, Michigan. The event is a road race on paved surfaces and is presented as a 5K course with color stations that participants may pass through or avoid.
Participants can run, walk, or do both. Strollers and wheelchairs are explicitly welcome, and runners and walkers of all ages are invited. The event includes music, an after party with food, and a final giant color blast to close the gathering.
Local first responders will be on site, including the Michigan State Police, the Macomb County Sheriffs, and local fire and rescue personnel. Organizers will distribute educational material on child safety topics such as online safety, 911 procedures, fire safety, stranger danger, and water safety.
The event features a raffle with ticket prices listed as 1 ticket for $1, 6 for $5, and 12 for $10, and accepts Venmo and Cash App at the event. The overall top male and female finishers receive a $50 gift card. Medals handcrafted by local children will be awarded to the first 100 finishers.
This is the 10th annual running of the event. Proceeds are donated to DMI, a 501c3 organization, and the stated mission includes raising funds to rescue and restore children and to provide education and community safety programming. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
