Everyday Heroes Needed: Race 2 Rescue 5K Color Run & Walk
This community event on June 13, 2026, at Stony Creek Metropark in Shelby Township, Michigan includes a 5K color run and a 1 mile walk on paved park roads. Participants may run or walk; strollers and wheelchairs are welcome. The event combines a timed 5K with family-friendly activities and ends with a final color blast.
The event supports fundraising and education focused on child safety, including material about online safety, and raises funds to rescue and restore children and to help build and staff safe houses. First responders will participate and provide safety information; named partners include the Michigan State Police, the Macomb County Sheriff, and local fire and rescue units. Proceeds are donated to DMI, a 501c3 organization.
Prizes and community activities are part of the program. The overall top male and female finishers receive a $50 gift card, and medals handcrafted by local children are awarded to the first 100 finishers. A raffle with prizes is offered, and an after-event celebration with music and food is planned. Referral and child pricing are part of the event materials; children five and under are listed as free.
