Essex Triathlons - Hanningfield Reservoir
The event is at Hanningfield Waterside Park, Hanningfield Reservoir, located between Billericay and Chelmsford. The site is surrounded by mature woodland and about 870 acres of water, with trails and quiet country roads adjacent to the course.
The program includes sprint and standard triathlons, sprint and standard aquabikes, and an open water swim. There are no cut-off times.
Event distances include:
- Sprint Triathlon: 750m swim, 25km cycle, 5km run
- Standard Triathlon: 1500m swim, 38km cycle, 10km run
- Sprint Aquabike: 750m swim, 25km cycle
- Standard Aquabike: 1500m swim, 38km cycle

Water temperatures are expected to be warm enough for optional wetsuit use; wetsuits are recommended for buoyancy and comfort. A secure transition area will be in place; race and bike numbers match racking spots, a small bag or box is permitted, bikes must be numbered and helmets visible before entry, and equipment collection requires showing bib and bike numbers.
Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North with real-time results. All finishers receive an event metal medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and a snack and drink. An event T-shirt is available for £14.00. Free parking is provided for participants. Dogs are not permitted around the reservoir as it is a designated SSSI.
