Essex Triathlons - Hanningfield Reservoir (2026)
Essex Triathlons is a multisport event at Hanningfield Reservoir in Essex, between Billericay and Chelmsford. The venue sits amid mature woodland and about 870 acres of water and uses scenic trails and country roads for its race routes. The event has no cut-off times.
Event distances:
- Sprint Triathlon: 750 m swim, 25 km cycle, 5 km run
- Standard Triathlon: 1500 m swim, 38 km cycle, 10 km run
- Sprint Aquabike: 750 m swim, 25 km cycle
- Standard Aquabike: 1500 m swim, 38 km cycle
- Open Water Swim
Run and cycle routes use laps (Sprint run = 1 lap; Standard run = 2 laps. Sprint cycle = 2 laps; Standard cycle = 3 laps). Wetsuit use is optional; wetsuits are recommended for buoyancy and comfort when water temperatures allow.
A secure transition area is provided; race and bike numbers match racking spots. Small bags or boxes are permitted in transition. Bikes must be numbered and helmets visible before entry. Competitor numbers are checked on entry and must be shown after racing to collect equipment.
Live chip timing will provide real-time results. All finishers receive a bespoke event medal, Wild Deer merchandise, and a snack and drink. An exclusive event T-shirt is available for £12.00. Free parking is provided. Dogs are not permitted due to the reservoir's SSSI status. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
