Essex Triathlons 2027 - Hanningfield Reservoir
Essex Triathlons takes place at Hanningfield Reservoir, located between Billericay and Chelmsford in Essex. The site includes mature woodland and roughly 870 acres of water. The venue is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest and dogs are not permitted around the reservoir.
The event programme includes sprint and standard triathlon races plus aquabike options and an open water swim. There are no cut-off times. Live chip timing is provided by Timing Up North with real-time results. Free parking is available for participants.
Run and cycle routes use lap formats. Run routes are one lap for sprint and two laps for standard. Cycle routes are two laps for sprint and three laps for standard. A secure transition area will be in place; competitors must ensure race and bike numbers match racking spots, helmets are visible before entry and bib and bike numbers are shown after racing to collect equipment. Small bags or boxes are permitted in transition.
Wetsuit use is optional and recommended for buoyancy and comfort when water temperatures allow. All finishers receive a bespoke event metal medal, Wild Deer merchandise and a snack and drink.
