Essex Revolution Run/Walk 250 - 6.5K (4 Miles)

The Essex Revolution Run/Walk 250 is a professionally chip-timed event held in Essex, New York, within the Adirondack Park. The race covers a distance of 6.5 km (4 miles) and commemorates the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. All proceeds from the event benefit High Peaks Hospice to support end-of-life care in the region.

The course features a flat start on a firm, hard-packed country dirt road. It proceeds through open farmland where participants pass local livestock before transitioning to paved roads. The route includes one manageable uphill section followed by a fast downhill finish into downtown historic Essex near Lake Champlain. The course is clearly marked and includes water stations and EMTs stationed at the finish.

Participants receive professional chip timing with live results available immediately after the race. Registration includes a collector-edition 250th Anniversary T-shirt for those signed up by June 20. Medals are awarded to the top male and female finishers in several age divisions, including 25 and Under, 26-39, 40-59, and 60+.

The event is open to runners and walkers. Strollers and leashed pets are permitted. Additional activities include a Revolutionary costume contest and the Beat the British Team Challenge, which recognizes the largest team, best team costume, and fastest combined team time. A free fun run for children ages 12 and under is also organized in the downtown area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
