Essex Revolution Run/Walk 250 - 6.5K (4 miles)
The Essex Revolution Run/Walk 250 is a professionally chip timed 6.5K run and walk held on July 4 in Essex on Lake Champlain. The event marks the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution and supports High Peaks Hospice; proceeds benefit local end of life care.
The course starts on a firm, hard packed country dirt road, moves through open Adirondack farmland with livestock on view, then transitions to paved roads. The route features a flat start, one gentle uphill, and a downhill finish into downtown Essex near Lake Champlain and the town Fourth of July festivities. The finish area connects directly to parade energy and lake views.
Event services include clearly marked course, water stations, EMTs stationed at the finish, and restrooms at start and finish. Roads remain open and volunteers direct traffic. The race is held rain or shine. Official results are posted online with live results available immediately after the race. Professional chip timing and age division medals are provided.
Additional features include a collector 250th anniversary T shirt, a revolutionary costume contest, and the Little Rebels kids fun run for ages 12 and under with prizes. Teams can compete in the Beat the British team challenge and awards are given for various team and individual categories. Strollers, leashed pets, and headphones are permitted; participants must sign a waiver and act within their ability. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
