Event overview
Escape from Turkey Mountain is a trail race held on September 7, 2026 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The event offers two race distances:
- 5 Mile
- 2 Mile
Both races start and finish at the Lower Parking Lot at Turkey Mountain, 6851 S Elwood Ave, Tulsa, OK 74132. All entrants receive a race t-shirt and a finisher medal. The race uses a three-wave start to reduce trail congestion; participants self-select a wave based on expected pace: faster than 11:30 per mile, between 11:30 and 14:00 per mile, or slower than 14:00 per mile. No one will be allowed to start more than five minutes after the gun.
Escape from Turkey Mountain is the third race in the annual "Turkey Triple" series. The series includes Trail Madness in March and the Trail Nut races in June. Participants who register for the series receive an additional special medal for each race in the series.
Course and organizer
The course runs in Turkey Mountain Urban Wilderness, a park of over 300 acres located a few miles from downtown Tulsa. The area features a thick tree canopy with species such as Post and Blackjack Oak, Hickory, and Redbud. The park extends from I-44 to 71st Street and from Elwood Avenue to the Arkansas River, and its highest point rises about 300 feet above the river.
The event is organized by Golden Driller Racing. The organizer is RRCA registered and carries event insurance; as appropriate, USATF certified courses and sanctioned road races are used. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
