11th Annual Equal Access Birmingham Heart + Sole 5K
The 11th Annual Heart + Sole 5K is an in-person fundraising run held by Equal Access Birmingham, a free medical clinic staffed by medical students from the University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine. The event on November 7, 2026 supports EAB's mission to provide free medical care, medication, and health education to medically uninsured or underinsured residents of Birmingham.
The course starts and finishes at the parking lot of Crestline Elementary, 3785 West Jackson Blvd, across from the Mountain Brook Community Education center in Mountain Brook, AL. Event features include a warm-up led by Battle Republic Fitness Studio with free class passes, a DJ to provide race-day music, a costume contest with prizes, and an after party with details to be announced.
Pre-race packet distribution and T-shirt pick-up are scheduled at Volker Hall on Friday, November 6 from 10:00 to 15:00; Volker Hall is located at 1670 University Blvd, Birmingham, AL 35233. Additional packet distribution will occur before the race, with check-in beginning at 8:00 on race day.
Registration opens August 24, 2026 and remains available online through November 6, 2026. Entry fees listed by the organizer are $25 for students of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine and $35 for non-UABHSOM participants.
