Enlightenment Mountain Run
Enlightenment Mountain Run is a two-day trailrunning event at Angel Fire Resort in New Mexico. The program uses the Enlightenment Trail to reach the summit and returns to the base area at the Chile Express lift. The event is part of the Mountain Cap Trail Series.
Distances:
- 5.2 miles Enlightenment Ascent - singletrack uphill to summit, roughly 2,000 ft ascent
- 10.4 miles Mountain Classic - same uphill route then return descent on the trail
The ascent route is entirely singletrack and offers multiple viewpoints of the Moreno Valley. The Saturday format sends runners to the summit with a complimentary lift ride back to the base. The Sunday format follows the same climb but includes a trail descent back to the Start/Finish area.
The course will be marked with yellow flagging and directional signage. Race Headquarters is located at Angel Fire Resort near the lift; packet pickup is handled at the headquarters deck beside the lift. The organizer conducts trail maintenance and course sweeping before and after the event to minimize trail impact.
Angel Fire Resort lists on-site recreation and family activities such as golfing, boating, hiking, and a zip line. The event notes discounted lodging for multi-night stays and nearby camping within walking distance to the Start/Finish. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
