Enlightenment Mountain Run
Enlightenment Mountain Run takes place at Angel Fire Resort in Angel Fire, New Mexico as part of the Mountain Cap Trail Series. The event is organized as a two day trail running experience with an ascent day followed by an up and down mountain race the next day. The start and finish area sits at the base of the Chile Express lift, just behind the lift.
The course uses singletrack trail and climbs roughly 2,000 feet to the summit on the Enlightenment Trail. The route will be marked with yellow flagging and directional signage. On the first day participants run the ascent to the summit and are offered a free lift ride back down. The second day is a Mountain Classic 10.4 mile up and down race that returns to the same start area.
Distances:
- 5.2 miles Enlightenment Ascent to the summit, singletrack, ~2,000 ft ascent
- 10.4 miles Mountain Classic up and down using the same summit route
The organizer performs trail maintenance and course sweeping to minimize impact and remove trash. Parking is available in multiple large gravel lots near the start with additional limited spaces adjacent to the start area. Angel Fire Resort offers lodging discounts for multi night stays and there is nearby camping for a stated nightly fee.
Registration pricing varies by date with standard, late, and race day levels. The event’s refund policy provides a 50 percent rollover credit 21 days or more before the event and no refunds or credit less than 21 days prior. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
