English's Ridge Rumble
English's Ridge Rumble is a trail running event at Green Lakes State Park in Fayetteville, NY, organized by Salt City Trail Racing in partnership with the park. The event offers three distance options:
- 50 km
- 20 Miler
- 10 Miler
The course uses an approximately 10 mile loop with about 1,300 feet of elevation gain. Trail surfaces vary: some technical sections with rocks and roots, a majority of double-track on mulch beds, gravel, or grass, and a short portion of paved park road. The route passes features named The Serengeti, Round Lake, the Powerline Bypass, and Quarry Hill, and includes stretches through open fields and old growth forest. The start and finish are at the Reserve Picnic Shelter.
There are two aid stations: one at the start/finish and a second on course that runners pass twice per loop at roughly miles 2.4 and 6.6. Aid offerings include water, Skratch, fruit and savory snacks, sandwiches, chips, cookies, candy, and postrace ramen with vegan options. Cutoffs are expressed as elapsed times: for the 50 km runners are expected to begin their third loop within 5 hours and to pass the remote aid station within 7 hours; finish time limits are 6 hours for the 10 miler, 7 hours for the 20 miler, and 8 hours for the 50 km.
Participants should note that prices increase after December 1 and again in the month before the race, and that shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after April 2. The event is USATF sanctioned. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
