Event details
The Wagon Wheel Freedom Run/Walk is a 5K event offered on-site at the All Veterans Memorial (931 S Commercial St, Emporia, KS) and as a virtual option. The on-site event date is November 8, 2025. Virtual entries may be completed between September 11 and November 11, 2025. Registration opens July 1. The on-site course starts and ends at the All Veterans Memorial and follows a route through the Flint Hills; routes will be completely on gravel, weather permitting. The event is held annually in November.
Format and participant information
On-site participants may run, walk, or stroll the 5K route. All finishers receive a swag bag; virtual finishers are asked to submit a screenshot of time and route and a photo after completing their route, and local virtual finishers may pick up swag in Emporia after November 11 while out-of-town finishers will have swag mailed. Official awards are given to on-site participants only: the top three male and female overall receive custom trophies, and the top three male and female in each age category receive Emporia Main Street gift certificates. Age categories are 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
