Wagon Wheel Freedom Run/Walk
The Wagon Wheel Freedom Run/Walk is a 5K run, walk, or stroll offered as both an on-site event and a virtual event. The on-site course begins and ends at the Emporia All Veterans Memorial, located at 931 S Commercial St, Emporia, KS. The route runs through the Flint Hills and will be entirely on gravel, weather permitting.
Registration opens July 1 and the next scheduled on-site event date is November 7, 2026. The virtual event window runs from September 11 through November 11. Virtual participants may choose their own 5K route and are asked to submit a screenshot of their time and route and a post-run photo as proof of completion. Local virtual finishers may collect swag at the Emporia Main Street office after November 11; out-of-town finishers will receive swag by mail.
Awards apply to on-site participants only. The overall top three male and top three female finishers receive custom trophies. Top three male and top three female finishers in each age group receive Emporia Main Street gift certificates. Age categories are 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over.
