Wagon Wheel Freedom Run/Walk
The Wagon Wheel Freedom Run/Walk is a 5K run, walk, or stroll offered as an on-site and virtual event. The on-site 5K starts and finishes at the Emporia All Veterans Memorial (931 S Commercial St, Emporia, KS). The on-site route runs through the Flint Hills and will be completely on gravel, weather permitting. A 5K course map is provided by the organizer.
Virtual participants may complete a self-selected 5K anytime during the virtual window. Virtual finishers receive a swag bag and are eligible for the same awards as on-site participants. Virtual runners are encouraged, when possible, to choose a route that starts, finishes, or passes a local Veterans memorial, park, or monument. Virtual finishers submit proof of completion by sharing a time and route screenshot and a post-run photo; local finishers may pick up swag after the event, and out-of-town finishers will have swag mailed and their completion posted on the event Facebook page and website.
Awards are presented to on-site participants. The overall top three male and top three female finishers receive custom trophies. Top three male and female finishers in each age group receive Emporia Main Street gift certificates. Age categories are 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over.
