Wagon Wheel Freedom Run/Walk
The Wagon Wheel Freedom Run/Walk is a 5K run, walk, or stroll offered both on-site at the All Veterans Memorial in Emporia and as a virtual event. The on-site route starts and ends at the Emporia All Veterans Memorial, follows a course through the Flint Hills, and will be completely on gravel, weather permitting. The event is scheduled for November 7, 2026. Virtual participation is available between September 11 and November 11, 2026. Registration opens July 1.
Awards are given to on-site participants only. The overall top three male and top three female finishers receive custom trophies. Top three male and top three female finishers in each age category receive Emporia Main Street gift certificates. Age categories include 12 and under, 13 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 and over.
Virtual finishers receive a Freedom Fest swag bag and may be eligible to win custom trophies or Emporia Main Street gift certificates. Virtual participants are asked, if possible, to use a route that starts, finishes, or passes a local veterans memorial, park, or monument, and to submit a screenshot of time and route along with a finish photo. Local virtual swag bags may be picked up at the Emporia Main Street Office after November 11; out-of-town bags will be mailed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
