EMC DAM to DSM
EMC DAM to DSM is a point to point half marathon that travels from the Saylorville Dam to Downtown Des Moines. The event continues a tradition that spans more than four decades and is scheduled to run again in 2026.
The course begins on the Saylorville Dam and moves south through rural sections of Polk County before entering urban Des Moines. Runners traverse I 35 at the Morningstar bridge, pass through Northside neighborhoods, follow the Des Moines River at Birdland Park, and enter downtown via the John Pat Dorrian Trail. The finish line is located after crossing the Des Moines River and passing the World Food Prize Building, with a post race gathering at Cowles Commons across from the Des Moines Civic Center.
Event logistics noted by the organizer include bus service to the starting area and both in person and virtual result options in recent years. Registered athletes receive an athlete swag box that includes an athletic t shirt, finisher medal, official race bib, and additional items from sponsors. A stated registration fee for the 2026 event is $70.
Volunteer roles listed include registration check in, water aid stations, medal distribution, and handing out post race athlete food. Volunteers under 15 are required to be accompanied by an adult.
The event is produced by RipRoar Events, a Des Moines based endurance event production team. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
