About the Embrace Winter Run
The Embrace Winter Run is an official event of Ottawa’s Winterlude festival, starting and finishing at the Canadian War Museum. The course takes place on a closed, paved road, providing a safe environment with views of the Ottawa River and downtown Ottawa.
The event features several race distances to accommodate different goals:
- 6 Hour Urban Ultra (loop-based)
- Marathon (42.2 km)
- Half Marathon (21.1 km)
- 10 km
- 5 km
- Kids 1K Snowy Shuffle
The marathon course is certified and serves as a Boston Marathon Qualifier. Registration includes professional timing, a personalized race bib, and on-course nutrition. After the event, participants have access to snacks, hot chocolate, and pre- and post-race services such as massage, chiropractic, and physiotherapy. Podium prizes are awarded to the top three male, female, and non-binary athletes.
A general course cut-off is set for 2:00 PM for all distances. The event also acts as a fundraiser for Imerman Angels, an organization providing one-on-one support for those impacted by cancer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
