Event overview
The Sap Run Scramble at Embark Maple Farm takes place on March 21, 2026 in Cashton, Wisconsin (30904 Rognstad Ridge Road). The event includes two formats that use the same trail: a Foodie 5K Scramble and a Last Person Standing (LPS) Scramble. Food-focused snack stops with maple-based items are placed along the route. After the scramble, wood-fired pizzas, beverages and live music are available at Ramp Camp.
Course and format
- 5K Foodie 5K Scramble : a 5 kilometer route through maple woods with maple-based snack stops.
- 5K Last Person Standing : complete a 5K lap each hour; participants repeat laps until they stop finishing a lap within the hour.
The course runs on old logging roads, dry washes and deer paths across steep hillsides. It is often off-trail and requires navigation using course ribbons and fox markers. The LPS format involves repeated laps with approximately 1000 feet of elevation gain per lap.
Logistics and policies
The scramble is held in the maple sap season and runs in most weather conditions. Participants are advised to wear sturdy shoes and bring a water bottle; hiking poles are suggested. LPS participants should bring a headlamp because there is no lighting on the course. Well-behaved pets on leashes are allowed on the farm but must stay out of the sugar house and kitchen areas. Aid and snack stations are located on course and at Ramp Camp; specific nutritional needs should be self-managed. Extreme weather deemed dangerous may prompt event changes.
