Elmhurst Twilight Mile
The Elmhurst Twilight Mile is a one mile road race presented by the Elmhurst Running Club and organized in conjunction with the DuPage Cycling Foundation. The event uses a closed circuit around Elmhurst University that is the same course used by the Elmhurst Cycling Classic cyclists. The course is described as fast and takes place in front of large crowds on the university grounds.
The event is open to a broad range of runners but entrants should be able to complete the mile in 13 minutes or less. Runners are staged by expected finish time in grouped heats, including open sections and elite categories for women under 6 minutes and men under 5 minutes.
Total prize money for the event is listed as $2,000. Overall male and female top five finishers receive $300, $250, $200, $150, and $100 respectively. Additional incentives include $100 awards for a new course record in each gender, a $100 bonus for the top man under 4 minutes, and a $100 bonus for the top woman under 4 minutes 30 seconds.
