Elmhurst Twilight Mile
The Elmhurst Twilight Mile is a closed one mile road race run on the same circuit used by the criterium and staged in front of large crowds around Wilder Mansion and Elmhurst University. The event is presented by the Elmhurst Running Club and is held on a USATF certified course.
The course is relatively flat with a long gentle downhill to a fan-packed sweeping section called the Chicane, a midpoint along Grace Street, a fast flat stretch past the university stadium on Alexander, and a final gentle rise on Prospect before the finish at the Wilder Mansion Beer Garden and finish arena.
There are three distinct fields: an Open race with a broad pace range and two Elite fields with performance cutoffs for women and men. Cash prizes are awarded to top finishers in the Elite women and men fields, and additional prize opportunities include a combined Dash for the Cash among top Elite finishers and bonuses for certain time thresholds and course records. Age-based results and awards are provided across multiple age groups.
Registration is offered online with tiered entry fees by date and with on-site registration and bib pickup at the venue on event day. Chip timing is provided by Red Panda Timing. Safety notes state that elite bike racing occurs on the same course immediately prior and runs clockwise; course crossings are controlled by crossing guards. No bicycles, strollers, wheeled devices, or pets are allowed on the running course. The event runs rain or shine with possible delay or cancellation for lightning, and entry fees are nonrefundable.
