Elmhurst Running Club 4 on the 4th
The Elmhurst Running Club 4 on the 4th is a recurring athletic event hosted in Elmhurst, Illinois. Now in its 21st year, the race takes place on the streets of the western Chicago suburbs. The event features two primary distances for participants to choose from:
- 4-Mile run
- 1K run for children ages 5 to 12
The 4-Mile course is a USATF-certified route that is well-marked for participants. Runners can find two fluid stations located along the course to provide hydration during the race. Both the start and finish lines for this distance are situated at Elmhurst University, which is located directly across from Wilder Park.
The Kids 1K utilizes a portion of the main course. This race begins and ends at the same finish line used for the 4-Mile event. The route directs younger participants north on Prospect Avenue toward Park Avenue, where they perform a 180-degree turn to return to the finish line.
Registration is open to runners from the Chicagoland area and other regions. Due to the high number of participants, the event has reached maximum capacity in previous years. Participation requires a registration fee, which differs based on the selected distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
