Elkhorn Relay : event details
The Elkhorn Relay is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2026, in the La Grande, Oregon area. The event is organized as a 6-person relay and covers approximately 80.6 miles. This is the 11th edition of the race and the organizer is RUNOR Racing Co. Registration closes on July 11 at 11:59 PM PT.
Course
The course starts at Hilgard Junction State Park and heads south on old Highway 244, running alongside the Grande Ronde River before leaving the river for a sequence of climbs into the backcountry. The route includes a 20+ mile section on gravel mountain roads, a climb up the backside of Anthony Lakes to about 7,400 feet altitude, and finishes with a trail leg at the ski resort. Total reported elevation gain for teams is 6,000 feet.
Registration and fees
The event uses tiered registration pricing:
- Early registration (Nov 21, 2025 – Jan 31, 2026): $500
- Regular registration (Feb 1 – May 31, 2026): $550
- Late registration (Jun 1 – Jul 11, 2026): $600
