About the Elkhorn Relay

The Elkhorn Relay is a team running event for teams of six people. The route covers 80.6 miles (approximately 81 miles) through eastern Oregon. The course features several challenging climbs.

The race begins at Hilgard Junction State Park, following an old highway along the Grande Ronde River. Runners then proceed onto over 20 miles of scenic gravel mountain roads leading into the backcountry. The route gains approximately 6,000 feet in elevation, reaching a high point of around 7,400 feet near Anthony Lakes with views of the Elkhorn Mountains. The final segment for each team member is a trail leg finishing at a ski resort.
