Elkhorn Relay
The Elkhorn Relay is an annual six person team relay organized by RUNOR Racing Co. near La Grande, Oregon. The course covers about 80.6 miles and includes roughly 6,000 feet of total elevation gain. This is the 11th running of the event.
The route begins at Hilgard Junction State Park and follows old Highway 244 south along the Grande Ronde River. After the highway leaves the river, the course climbs into backcountry and enters a 20+ mile section of gravel mountain roads. As teams climb the backside of Anthony Lakes they gain altitude up to about 7,400 feet and view the Elkhorn mountains to the south. Each team member completes a final trail leg at the ski resort.
Registration is offered in three periods with different fees: early registration from November 21, 2025 to January 31, 2026 at $500; regular registration from February 1, 2026 to May 31, 2026 at $550; and late registration from June 1, 2026 to July 11, 2026 at $600.
