Elkhorn Relay
The Elkhorn Relay is the 11th annual six person relay held in La Grande, OR on August 8, 2026. The course covers 80.6 miles and includes about 6,000 feet of total elevation gain. The event starts at Hilgard Junction State Park and follows old Highway 244 south along the Grande Ronde River before leaving the river and climbing into backcountry terrain.
Runners will encounter a 20 plus mile section of gravel mountain roads, rising terrain with views of the Elkhorn mountains to the south, and a climb on the backside of Anthony Lakes that reaches approximately 7,400 feet in elevation. Each member of the team completes a final trail leg that finishes at a ski resort.
Registration is offered in three windows with tiered fees. Early registration runs November 21, 2025 through January 31, 2026 for $500. Regular registration runs February 1, 2026 through May 31, 2026 for $550. Late registration runs June 1, 2026 through July 11, 2026 for $600. Entries close July 11 at 11:59 PM PT.
