Event Overview
The Elf 'N' Cocoa run is an annual holiday event held at the Riverwinds Community Center in West Deptford, New Jersey. The race supports the HEADstrong Foundation and offers participants various distances on a paved course. The route features waterfront views, including views of the Philadelphia skyline.
Race Options
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 8K Run: A chip-timed race on a paved course.
- 5K Run/Walk: A chip-timed race open to both runners and walkers.
- 1 Mile Kids Fun Run: A non-timed course for participants aged 14 and under.
Amenities and Logistics
The 8K and 5K races are chip-timed with live results provided. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three in various age groups ranging from 10 and under to over 70. All finishers across all distances receive a medal. Participants in the 8K and 5K also receive a custom cocoa mug.
Children participating in the 1 Mile Kids Fun Run receive a custom beanie if registered by the early December deadline. Parents are permitted to accompany their children during the fun run without a separate registration.
Post-Race Activities
All registered participants receive a cup of hot cocoa from Death of the Fox Coffee House at the finish line. The event includes a post-race party featuring a DJ playing holiday music and a visit from a special character. Food and beverages, including donuts and coffee from the DonutNV food truck, are available for purchase pre- and post-race. Professional race and after-party photos are provided for free download following the event.
The event permits jogging strollers, but dogs are not allowed to participate. The races take place rain or shine. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
