Event overview
The Elf 'N' Cocoa event is scheduled for Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Riverwinds Community Center in West Deptford, New Jersey. The race program includes the following distances:
- 8K Race
- 5K Race
- 1 Mile Kids Fun Run
The 8K and 5K are chip timed with live-streamed results and awards. The course is paved and includes waterfront areas with views of Philadelphia. Awards are presented to the top male and female finishers in each distance: Top 3 overall and Top 3 per age group (age groups include 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, and every 10 years thereafter). All registered participants receive a finisher medal and a custom fleece-lined beanie. Registered finishers are offered a cup of hot cocoa provided by Death of the Fox Coffee House at the finish.
Details and logistics
The 1-mile event is a non-timed fun run for children; a non-registered parent may accompany a child and volunteers will supervise the course. Walkers are permitted in the 5K but must register and start behind runners. A professional photographer will provide free downloadable race and after-party photos within 24-28 hours after the race. A food truck will serve donuts and coffee, a DJ will play music at the post-race area, and jogging strollers are allowed. Dogs may not participate. The event supports the HEADstrong Foundation. The race is held rain or shine; there are no refunds or transfers. Race swag must be picked up and will not be mailed. Packet pick-up is available at Running Co in Mullica Hill and at the Riverwinds Community Center lobby on race day.
