Einstein Marathon
The Einstein Marathon is an annual road running event held in Ulm and Neu-Ulm in late September. The programme includes a full marathon, a half marathon and a range of shorter and alternative competitions. Organisers expect more than 10,000 participants for the current edition.
The event combines race operations and a public expo. Start and finish areas are located in the Ulm-Messe area and on the Münsterplatz respectively. Runners have access to bib and chip pickup on the marathon expo day, a baggage transfer service from start to finish, and changing and shower facilities in nearby halls and schools. Every finisher receives a medal and results are published online with downloadable certificates.
Race services include aid stations with water, isotonic drinks and energy bars on the long courses, live timing and published split times, a team classification, and a marathon relay with four stages. Safety and rules are specified: helmet use is mandatory for handbike and inline events; strollers, bicycles and dogs are not permitted on the race courses. The event also features many volunteer helpers, a first aid team, numerous bands along the route and a sustainability contribution included in the entry fee.
