Event overview

The EHQ Valley Falls 6 and 12 Hour event takes place at Valley Falls State Park in Fairmont, WV (720 Valley Falls Rd). The event offers the following options:

Registration closes on May 8 at 11:59 PM ET. Early bird pricing is available through January. Participants who register by early April are eligible to receive a race shirt on race day; extra shirts may be available.

Course, facilities, and rules

The course is a loop of about 5.25 miles with approximately 750 ft of vertical gain per loop. Terrain includes gravel service roads, single track trails, streams, rocky climbs, and rolling trails. The trail will be clearly marked and runs clockwise in odd years. Two fully stocked aid stations are located at the start/finish area and at the halfway point, offering electrolytes, water, soda, food including vegan options, and salt caps. Runners should bring their own cups or hydration systems; disposable cups will be limited.

Park facilities include a restroom with running water and a porta potty. There are no on-site showers, though a water hose may be available. Valley Falls closes at night and camping is not permitted. Personal aid stations and crews are permitted; canopies should not be set up in gravel parking areas. Rules note that only full laps count, poles and pacers are allowed, pets are not permitted, runners must stay on park trails, and alcohol is prohibited in WV State Parks.

Awards and other notes

Top three male and female finishers receive locally made awards. All participants receive a memento and a participant shirt designed by local artists. Fastest-lap awards and distance mementos for marathon/50K/50mi/100K are offered. The event benefits The Innocent Lives Foundation. Photos from the event will be posted free after the race.
