EHQ Valley Falls 6 and 12 Hour
EHQ Valley Falls is a timed trail event at Valley Falls State Park near Fairmont, WV. The event offers multiple entries:
- 12 Hour individual
- 6 Hour individual
- 12 Hour 4-person relay
- 6 Hour 2-person relay
The course is a roughly 5.25 mile loop with about 750 feet of vertical gain per loop and will run clockwise for 2027. Terrain includes gravel service roads, single-track trails, streams, rocky climbs, rolling trail sections, and a waterfall area. The trail will be clearly marked.
Two fully stocked aid stations are located at the start/finish and the halfway point. Hydration includes electrolytes, water, and soda; food includes typical ultrarunning options with vegan choices. Salt caps will be available. Runners are asked to carry personal cups or handhelds; disposable cups will be limited. Aid will be delivered with reduced contact when possible.
Facilities at the park include a single restroom building with running water and a porta-potty; there are no on-site showers. Valley Falls closes at night and camping on-site is not permitted. Personal aid stations and crews are allowed, but canopy placement is restricted in parking areas and participants should be considerate of other park users.
Race rules note that only full laps count, poles and pacers are permitted, pets are not allowed, and participants must remain on park trails. WV State Parks prohibit alcohol. Photos from the event are provided free. Registration closes May 6 at 11:59 PM ET. Entrants are eligible for a 50% refund until 30 days before the event; transfers are allowed until 5 days prior and require participant details.
