Event overview
EHQ Valley Falls 6 and 12 Hour is a timed trail running event held at Valley Falls State Park in Fairmont, WV. The event offers both 6-hour and 12-hour formats and will take place on May 9, 2026. Registration closes May 8; early bird pricing runs through January. Register by April 5 to receive the participant shirt on race day; extras may be available.
Course and facilities
The course is a loop of about 5.25 miles with approximately 750' of vertical gain per loop. Terrain includes gravel service roads, single-track trails, streams, rocky climbs, rolling trails, and views of the falls. The trail will be clearly marked. The park has one restroom with running water, a porta-potty, and no showers on site; a hose may be available. Valley Falls closes at night and camping is not permitted.
Aid, rules, and support
Two fully stocked aid stations will be located at the start/finish and the halfway point, offering water, electrolytes, soda, a variety of food including vegan options, and salt caps. Runners are encouraged to carry their own cups or handhelds; disposable cups will be limited. Personal aid stations and crews are permitted; canopies should not be set up in gravel parking areas. Only full laps count toward totals. Poles and pacers are permitted. Pets are not allowed. Participants must stay on park trails and follow Leave No Trace; alcohol is prohibited in state parks.
Awards and charity
Top-three male and female finishers receive custom awards. All participants receive a memento and a participant shirt. The event benefits the Innocent Lives Foundation. Refunds are 50% until 30 days before the event; transfers and deferrals are allowed until five days prior. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
