Edinburgh Running Festival
The Edinburgh Running Festival takes place on closed-road routes around Holyrood Park, with views of the city skyline and Arthur's Seat. The event offers undulating looped courses that pass beneath crags and open hillside and is organised by RunThrough.
Race distances include:
- Half Marathon (4 laps)
- 10K (2 laps)
- 5K (1 lap)
Entries include a unique themed medal, chip-timed results, free race photos and post-race goodies. Each kilometre or mile is marked with distance flags and marshals are positioned along the course to guide and assist participants. The finish area is described as lively and the event village offers a range of food and drink options and additional freebies from partners.
The 2026 event supports Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH). SAMH is described as Scotland’s national mental health charity and operates over 70 services across Scotland, providing social care support, addictions and employment services among others.
An event t-shirt is available at a discounted price when purchased as part of an entry, produced in partnership with RT Kit. The organiser highlights sustainability as a developing focus for its events and notes planned event delivery measures such as clear marshalling and accurate timing.
