About the race
The Edinburgh Running Festival is a road-closed running event through Holyrood Park around Arthur's Seat and the Salisbury Crags. The route passes views across Edinburgh's skyline and follows an undulating layout with measured distance markers.
Distances on offer include:
- Half Marathon - 4 laps
- 10K - 2 laps
- 5K - 1 lap
Entries include a themed medal, free race photos, chip-timed results and post-race goodies. Each kilometre or mile is marked with distance flags. Marshals are positioned around the course to guide runners and provide encouragement.
An event village provides food and drink options and partner giveaways at the finish. The organiser, RunThrough, reports ongoing work on sustainability and offers an event t-shirt as an optional purchase at a discounted price through their partner RT Kit.
The festival uses lap formats for each distance and operates a managed course with marshals, timing and photo services. Information about entries and event services is provided to participants after registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
