Edinburgh Running Festival
Edinburgh Running Festival takes place on 2 August 2026 and supports Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH). SAMH is Scotland's national mental health charity and operates over 70 services offering mental health social care support, addictions and employment services.
The event uses closed roads around Holyrood Park with routes that loop beneath crags and open hillside in the shadow of Arthur's Seat. Runners pass sweeping views of the city skyline as they follow clearly marked courses.
Race distances
- Half Marathon (4 laps)
- 10K (2 laps)
- 5K (1 lap)
The event includes chip timed results, a unique themed medal, free race photos and post race goodies. Each kilometre or mile is marked with distance flags and marshals guide runners on course. A finish area and an event village provide food and drink options and race day services.
An event t shirt is available at a discounted price when purchased as part of entry. The organiser notes sustainability as an area of focus and works with partners to manage event services and kit supply. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
