Edinburgh Marathon Festival (23-24 May 2026)
The Edinburgh Marathon Festival takes place in Edinburgh over the weekend of 23 and 24 May 2026. The event programme includes road races and junior events across a range of distances.

Course and race details
The full marathon and half marathon routes pass several of Edinburgh’s landmarks and include sections along the East Lothian coastline. The half marathon starts at Potterrow and finishes in Musselburgh; finishers receive a medal and a finisher’s t-shirt and can use the finish area. The relay is contested by teams of four, with each leg covering a different section of the marathon course.
The 10k, 5k and junior races are held around Holyrood Park, with start and finish points near Dynamic Earth and views of the city and Edinburgh Castle. Junior event age categories are specified: the Junior 5K is for 11-18 year olds, the Junior 2K for 9-12 year olds, the Junior 1.5K for 6-8 year olds, and the Kids Kilometre for 3-6 year olds.
