Event Overview
The Easter Sun Run is a running and walking event held at Sedgwick County Park in Wichita, Kansas. The 2026 edition marks its 32nd year. The event serves as a fundraiser for Youth Horizons, a nonprofit organization that supports local youth and families through mentoring, residential care, and advocacy programs.
Event Distances
Participants can choose from several event formats:
- A 10K race.
- A 2-mile run/walk, held in memory of Jeff Wenzel.
- A Combo event that includes both the 10K and the 2-mile run/walk.
- An In For The Fun option, which includes a T-shirt.
Participation and Awards
All participants receive a T-shirt and a finisher's medal. Cash awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in both the 10K and 2-mile events. Additional awards are given for masters (ages 40-59) and senior grand masters (age 60+) categories. Medals and certificates are also awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age category.
Teams of 10 or more people receive a registration discount per person and can have their team name printed on the event T-shirts if registered by a specified date. Team trophies are awarded for categories such as fastest team, largest team, largest church team, and best team spirit.
Additional Activities
The event features an Easter Family Fun Zone with activities like an Easter egg hunt, inflatable attractions for children, yard games, and complimentary cotton candy, popcorn, and a BBQ lunch.
Registration and Logistics
General registration closes at 12 p.m. on the day before the event. Packet pickup is available on the Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday preceding the event at a specified address in Wichita. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
